Dear Sanford Resident,
In 2017 the City Commission appointed a Charter Review Committee to consider changes to the City’s charter. The charter provides the basic structure and rules for the government of our City.
A referendum will be held on August 28th for the voters to choose whether or not to make the recommended changes. There are four questions to be voted on which deal with city elections, salary of elected officials, the number of city commission districts, and the date of taking of office after election.
The entire proposed charter was published in the Sanford Herald on July 29, 2018. You may also read the full text of the proposed charter on the City’s website at www.SanfordFL.gov/CharterVote, or contact the City Clerk’s Office at 407-688-5014 for a copy. The Charter Review Committee hopes you will take the time to become familiar with the changes so that you can make an informed vote on August 28th.
