Seminole County Schools are renowned for excellence. MONEY magazine identified Seminole County schools as one of
the top 100 school districts in the nation in terms of offering high quality education in a moderately priced
community. The school district has been recognized every year since 1992 for being in the top 10% of the nation's
15,600 school districts as meeting the needs of families choosing schools. Seminole County had 87% of their
schools rated A or B schools.
NEWSWEEK recognized all Seminole County High Schools in the top 3% in the nation based on the number of students
enrolled in advanced placement or international baccalaureate classes. Orlando Business Journal ranked all SCPS high
schools among the top 25 in Central Florida.
Seminole County Public Schools has been selected for the American School Board Journal's Magna Award. The
award recognizes districts across the country for outstanding programs that advance student learning and encourage
community involvement in schools.
Dividends School Volunteer/Business Partners Program has won three national awards. Over 20 million worth of
academic and athletic scholarships money has been awarded to date, with additional scholarships being offered daily.
Since 1977, Seminole County SAT scores have exceeded state and national averages. 65% of the 2004 graduating
seniors took SAT scoring a district average (1048). The class of 2005 had 65 National Merit SemiFinalists.
According to Senior Exit Survey, over 80% of the graduating seniors are attending a two-or four-year college
or university, including the most prestigious colleges in the country. 4574 Seminole graduates are receiving
more than $9.7 million in Bright Futures Scholarships.
The district has spent more than $450 million on renovations and construction of new schools in the past ten
years. In the past five years, more than $39 million has been spent on technology for the schools and the classrooms.
SCPS benefits from a work force in which over 46% of teachers have a doctorate, specialists, or master's degree,
exceeding the national average.
It's easy to see why Seminole County is among the nations highest quality public school systems.
