Reverse 9-1-1 Self Registration Portal

Seminole County launched the Reverse 9-1-1 self registration portal February 17, 2011. This self registration portal allows individuals to register to receive "Reverse 9-1-1" phone calls. "Reverse 9-1-1" calls are used to launch emergency calls from an emergency communications center during times of hazardous materials events, missing persons, boil water notices, shelter in place orders and evacuations.

Counties throughout the United States have struggled with this technology as citizens move from traditional land-line telephones to voice over internet phones, cellular phones, and unlisted phone numbers. Until today, the County was only able to call citizens that had land-line phone listed in the phone book. Now, all citizens will be able to register their phones to receive "Reverse 9-1-1" phone calls regardless if their number is unlisted; they only use cellular phones; or they have moved to an internet phone service.

This service also allows another benefit; citizens can now register their cellular phones so that they will get "Reverse 9-1-1" calls even they are away from their home. So, if a family has a land-line phone and wish to get notified of a neighborhood emergency on a cellular device, they can simply register the phone!

This is a great move forward in protecting our citizens from all hazards. To register for this service, simply go to www.prepareseminole.org and click "Reverse 9-1-1 Registration".

NOTE: This is only for Seminole County residents.
