Currently the City of Sanford Police Department has an authorized staffing level of 140 sworn officers and 24 civilian employees. The men and women of the SPD are proud of the partnership they have forged with our community.

Through the years, the Sanford Police Department has developed into a multi-faceted law enforcement team providing comprehensive services to the City of Sanford through the Primary Operations and Support Services Divisions.

As we face tough economic times, the need for a strong, viable partnership between the SPD and our community is perhaps more important than ever.

The Sanford Police Department has many specialized units to better serve the citizens within our community. The units include: Traffic, K-9, Investigations, D.A.R.E., School Resource Officers, Street Crimes, Drug Interdiction Officers, and Community Policing Officers and our latest addition the Criminal Repeat Offender Program.
