Downtown Utilities Project
Major Relocate Project
Prepare for Major Construction Project in historic downtown Sanford - Relocating Utilities to Make Area Conducive for Future Development.
Sanford residents, business owners and visitors you will start to see some major construction activity within the next few weeks in downtown Sanford between East 1st Street & Seminole Boulevard - between Sanford Avenue and Palmetto Avenue.
Cathcart Construction will be relocating the stormwater, sanitary sewer, water and electrical lines in that area. The utilities in this area are over 100 years old in some places and in desperate need of replacement.
The construction will affect public parking in the city's (gravel) lot, traffic on Seminole Boulevard, Sanford Avenue, Palmetto Avenue & Commercial Street.
The public should expect detours in the affected areas of construction.
This project is estimated to take up to 6 months. The project cost $1,036,914.50 and is being funded through city storm water and utility fees.
We thank you for your patience as we improve the City of Sanford.
