2020 US Census/job information
Why is the Census so important?
The nation’s founder fathers believed that a census of the population was so important that it became a part of the U.S. Constitution. Article 1, Section 2, of the Constitution mandates a headcount every 10 years of everyone residing in the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the island areas of the United States. The census ensures that each community attains the right number of representatives in government. The U.S. Census Bureau must submit state population from the 2020 Census to the President of the United States by December 31, 2020.
Another important reason for the census is that population numbers from the census determines allocation of billions of dollars in federal funds supporting states, counties, and communities with vital assistance for activities and programs such as neighborhood improvements, public health, housing assistance, education, and transportation. Census data will also determine, based on population, representation in the U.S. House of Representatives and for redistricting state and local legislative districts.
Rock the Vote The Census is a population count of America that determines the distribution of political power and money from the federal government to our communities. The next Census begins in 2020. Take the pledge to be counted so your community gets its fair share!
