Election Information

District 3 and District 4 City Commissioner Election Qualifying Dates 

The City Clerk is assigned duties under the provisions of Section 6.02 of the City Charter relating to City elections. Qualifying for the next City Commission election begins next week on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 7:30 am and runs through Friday, May 22, 2020 at noon. All forms are available online or can be obtained in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall. If you desire, you may schedule an appointment with the City Clerk, it is important to note that each candidate and potential candidates have the obligation to ensure that they qualify in accordance with all requirements and comply with all legal requirements. Please call 407-688-5013 or 407-688-5012 to schedule an appointment. Appointments will be from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm daily with the exception of the noon deadline. The regular municipal election of the City will be held simultaneously with the State primary election and a runoff election, if necessary, will be held simultaneously with the State general election.

 

The qualifying fee for a Commission seat is $1196.15 (City $996.79 plus $199.36 which is the State election assessment). The qualifying fee must be paid by check drawn on Campaign Account.

 

No forms, fees or documents required for qualifying, or additions, revisions, substitutions, etc. will be accepted after the close of the qualifying period.

 

Among other things, upon qualification, candidates are required to submit periodic campaign treasurer's reports throughout the election process to identify all contributions received and expenditures made related to their campaign for elective office. Campaign laws are complex and relate to matters such as contribution limits, campaign expenditures, political advertising and many other matters.
