Comprehensive Plan Update

The Comprehensive Plan is the City's vision as a community that guides decision making processes that help determine how and where development occurs, how natural resources are preserved and protected and how places are connected with roads, sidewalks, bike lanes and trails.

The Comprehensive Plan data and analysis serves as the background research necessary to develop goals, objectives and policies (GOPs) to direct future growth. It is important to understand current conditions and trends and to obtain public input to determine the city’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints to better plan for the city’s future. The current Comprehensive Plan is based on data collected in 2009. The purpose of the update is to reflect what has happened in recent years and produce current and realistic population projections and development expectations.
