Senior Center

Based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),   Florida Department of Health the lead agency regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19 in Florida, and in close consultation with the Seminole County Office of Emergency Management, the City of Sanford provides the following information regarding programs, facilities and Parks.

Sanford Senior Center Re-opening Guidelines

Please see the guidelines below for the re-opening of the City of Sanford Senior Center. These guidelines along with CDC, state and local guidelines are in place for your safety and the safety of our employees.

Returning Activities

    Bid Whist: Masks will be required due to the close proximity of sitting at card tables. The bid whist players will continue to provide their own cards and keep and use accordingly. Please practice social distancing if possible when not actively playing.
  • Billiards: Masks are required. Please practice social distancing.
  • Bridge: Masks will be required due to the close proximity of sitting at card tables. Cards will be given to each card group to keep and use accordingly.Please practice social distancing.
  • Coastliners: Masks are required. Please practice social distancing.
  • Computer Use: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8:00A-4:00P. Masks are required. Please practice social distancing. There will be a 45 minute time limit if other users are waiting. The computers will be cleaned after each use and a 15 minute drying period as well.
  • Country & Western Line Dancing: Masks are required. Please practice social distancing.
  • Hand and Foot: Masks will be required due to the close proximity of sitting at card tables. Cards will be given to each card group to keep and use accordingly.Please practice social distancing.
  • Mah Jonng: Masks will be required due to the close proximity of sitting at card tables. The group is encouraged to bring own Mah Jonng set. Please practice social distancing.
  • Table Tennis: Masks are requested but not required. Please practice social distancing.

    Activities Not Returning at This Time

  • Bingo: Bingo will NOT be starting. Please watch for the announced date.
  • Line Dancing: Line Dancing will NOT be returning. Please watch for the announced date.
  • Seniorcise: Seniorcise will NOT be returning at this time. Seniorcise is an activity provided by Central Florida Regional Hospital/H2U. They are not resuming this class at this time.
  • Television Watching: TV Watching will NOT be returning until a later date.
  • Yoga: Yoga will NOT be returning at this time. Seniorcise is an activity provided by Central Florida Regional Hospital/H2U. They are not resuming this class at this time.

Guests are requested to wear masks at all times while in the Senior Center building.

Compliance of these building, state, local and CDC guidelines could affect how long and when the Senior Center can remain open.

The following amenities will NOT be available:

  • Blood Pressure Machine
  • Coffee Maker
  • Ice Machine
  • Microwave
  • Refrigerator
  • Scales
  • Television
  • Water Fountain

Other Notes of Interest

Sharing of food and drinks is not allowed.

Pre-packaged food and drinks are allowed.

Hand Sanitizer stations are available throughout all of the facilities.

 

Parks

All greenspaces and trails remain open for individual use and groups of ten or less. Tennis courts and pickleball courts are open for. Restrooms at the courts will be operating from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

All playgrounds, basketball courts, racquetball courts and restrooms remain closed until further notice. The City of Sanford asks all residents and visitors to continue following guidelines on social distancing, hand washing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
